Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using Chiron (the "Service"), operated by ChironInbox ("Chiron," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, subscribing, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Chiron is an educational literature-awareness tool, not a clinical decision-support or clinical guidance product.
1.1 The Service provides curated summaries, AI-generated analysis, and ratings of published surgical and medical literature for the purpose of helping trainees and attendings stay current with the literature. It is designed to save you time surveying the literature — nothing more.
1.2 The Service is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition, and is not intended to be used, in whole or in part, as a substitute for professional medical judgment, clinical decision-making, or the standard of care.
1.3 Nothing in the Service creates a physician-patient relationship, a consultative relationship, or any form of medical advice between Chiron and you or any third party (including your patients).
1.4 You acknowledge that all clinical decisions must be made by qualified healthcare professionals exercising independent judgment, based on the full clinical context, primary literature, institutional protocols, and applicable standards of care — not on any summary, rating, or analysis provided by the Service.
1.5 The Service is intended for use by licensed healthcare professionals, trainees, and other individuals with the clinical training necessary to critically evaluate the underlying literature. It is not intended for use by patients or the general public for personal medical decision-making.
2.1 Chiron uses artificial intelligence, including large language models, to generate summaries, ratings (including but not limited to the TRIAGE-AE scoring system), and analyses of published literature ("AI-Generated Content").
2.2 AI-Generated Content may contain errors, omissions, oversimplifications, or inaccuracies. AI systems can misinterpret study methodology, statistical findings, clinical significance, or context, and may occasionally generate plausible-sounding but incorrect statements ("hallucinations").
2.3 AI-Generated Content reflects an automated analysis of the source article and does not represent the independent medical judgment, peer review, or endorsement of Chiron, its founders, or any clinician.
2.4 Ratings and priority classifications (e.g., Priority 1–4 designations) are intended solely as a triage aid to help you decide what to read, not as a statement about the clinical validity, applicability, or quality of a study for your specific patient population or practice setting.
2.5 You must independently verify any information from the Service against the original, primary source article before relying on it in any way, and especially before applying it to patient care.
3.1 The Service, including all AI-Generated Content, journal coverage, and summaries, is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
3.2 Chiron does not guarantee comprehensive coverage of all relevant literature in any subspecialty, and the absence of an article from a digest does not indicate the article is unimportant.
3.3 Retraction status, journal indexing, and other metadata are subject to change after publication and may not be reflected immediately in the Service.
4.1 You agree to use independent professional judgment in evaluating any content from the Service and to consult primary literature, colleagues, institutional guidelines, and other appropriate resources before making any clinical, academic, or professional decision informed by the Service.
4.2 You agree not to represent AI-Generated Content from the Service as your own original analysis, peer review, or clinical opinion in any academic, credentialing, or clinical context without independent verification.
4.3 You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
5.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event shall Chiron, its founders, employees, contractors, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
5.2 In no event shall Chiron be liable for any clinical outcome, patient harm, or professional consequence arising from reliance on any summary, rating, or AI-Generated Content provided through the Service.
5.3 Chiron's total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Chiron in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
5.4 Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Chiron and its founders, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your use of any content from the Service in clinical or professional decision-making.
7.1 Subscription tiers, pricing, and included subspecialties are as described on the Chiron website at the time of purchase and may change with notice.
7.2 Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current rate unless cancelled prior to the renewal date. You may cancel at any time through your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
7.3 Refunds and Service Credits
7.3.1 All fees paid to Chiron are non-refundable, except where a refund is expressly required by applicable law. This policy applies regardless of the extent to which a subscriber has utilized the Service during the billing period in question.
7.3.2 Notwithstanding Section 7.3.1, in the event of a Significant Service Disruption — defined as the failure to deliver scheduled digest emails to a paying subscriber for three (3) or more consecutive business days due to a fault attributable to Chiron — the affected subscriber shall be eligible to receive a service credit equal to one (1) month of their then-current subscription plan, applied to a future billing cycle.
7.3.3 Service credits issued under Section 7.3.2 are Chiron's sole and exclusive remedy for any Significant Service Disruption and are not redeemable for cash, are non-transferable, and expire if unused within twelve (12) months of issuance.
7.3.4 A Significant Service Disruption does not include, and no credit shall be issued for, interruptions caused by: (a) scheduled maintenance disclosed in advance; (b) outages or delays attributable to third-party service providers (including but not limited to email delivery, hosting, or database providers) beyond Chiron's reasonable control; (c) the subscriber's own account configuration, email settings, or spam filtering; or (d) events of force majeure.
7.3.5 To request a service credit, subscribers must contact [CONTACT EMAIL] within thirty (30) days of the disruption's resolution. Chiron will review such requests in good faith and determine eligibility at its reasonable discretion.
7.3.6 Chiron reserves the right to modify pricing or subscription tiers prospectively; such changes will not affect the current billing cycle for existing subscribers and will take effect only upon renewal, with notice as described in Section 7.1.
8.1 The Service, including the TRIAGE-AE methodology, digest formatting, and all software, is the property of Chiron and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Summaries of third-party articles are provided under fair use for commentary, criticism, and educational purposes; underlying articles remain the property of their respective publishers and authors.
8.2 You may not redistribute, resell, or republish Chiron's digests or AI-Generated Content in bulk without prior written consent.
Chiron may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms, non-payment, or misuse of AI-Generated Content in a manner inconsistent with Section 4.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
